Toxic Ingredients in Skincare the Industry Won’t Tell You

Shopping around for anti aging skin products, you must be aware of certain toxic ingredients to avoid when buying.  This is one of the ugly secrets of the beauty industry – many products may be containing irritating and harmful chemicals for the skin. For a start, read on and discover what toxic substances may be in your beauty products.

Ingredients to Avoid in Face Wrinkle Cream

Boric Acid or Sodium Borate

Stay away from face creams containing these terms. They are chemicals that interfere with hormones as well as they can cause male infertility. These chemicals can be easily absorbed by the skin. It has also been banned in Canada and Europe.

There are some cosmetics on the market containing this ingredient, which is said to have the ability in lightening. It can be easily absorbed by the skin, and too much of it could also lead to poisoning. Look for terms including mercurio chloride, mercurio or mercury in the label.

Any of these is included in products to help lighten skin. However, experts from the National Toxicology Program consider them as likely a carcinogen or a cancer-causing chemical.  In lab tests, these ingredients were said to be the cause of reproductive organ and thyroid organ problem as well as liver damage and stomach cancer of animals exposed to it.

Certain skincare products like a wrinkle cream sometimes include this ingredient as it can absorb UV light. However, this can cause allergic reactions and irritation to the skin.  Based on some studies, the substance may also be an endocrine and hormone activity disruptor.

If you particularly have sensitive skin, you may want to avoid products, such as an anti aging cream containing perfume or fragrance, which is a term  indicating a combination of ingredients that companies don’t have to tell you about, but did you know that at least 3000 chemicals are used in making a fragrance?  On the market, there are also some companies trying to mask these ingredients.

Be careful and buy a good cream that do not contain artificial fragrance, which is associated with health problems, including asthma, allergies and cancers.

These are a common perfume ingredient, which is said to be blocking testosterone and eventually damaging the reproductive system in men, while it is linked with the increased risk of breast cancer among women.

On the market, you’d find “paraben-free” in the label.

Did you know why many products should not be including paraben and its many types?  When buying a moisturizer for instance you must avoid this ingredient because it causes hormonal imbalance and it mimics estrogen.

Based on certain studies, paraben may cause infertility and certain developmental disorders among children as well.

Avoid these toxic skincare ingredients if you don’t want to put your health in trouble. Many of them also disrupt your skin’s function and may cause irritation and allergies. In the end, you must always check the label and review those ingredients in the products you’re buying. Finally, study and compare your options and choose the safest for your skin today!
